The US Secret Service has a long history of protecting the President and other high-profile individuals. To carry out this vital mission, the Secret Service recruits individuals with exceptional skills and qualifications.

Special Agents are the backbone of the Secret Service. They are responsible for providing protection to the President, Vice President, and their families, as well as other high-ranking government officials and foreign dignitaries.

Special Agents Typically Progress Through Three Phases During Their Career:

  1. Phase I: Entry-level agents receive basic training in law enforcement, self-defense, and firearms. They are assigned to a field office to gain experience in protective operations.
  2. Phase II: Agents with several years of experience may be promoted to supervisory positions. They are responsible for managing teams of agents and overseeing protective operations.
  3. Phase III: Senior agents with exceptional leadership abilities may be promoted to executive positions. They are responsible for developing and implementing protective strategies and policies.

To Be Considered for a Position as a Special Agent, Applicants Must Meet the Following Requirements:

  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Be between the ages of 21 and 37
  • Have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Have at least three years of experience in law enforcement or a related field
  • Be in excellent physical condition
  • Have a valid driver's license
