Dubai Paralyzed by Torrential Rains, Airport Flooded

Heavy Downpours Cause Flight Delays

Dubai International Airport, the busiest in the world, was closed for several hours on Tuesday due to flooding caused by heavy rainfall. The rains, which began on Monday evening, also caused widespread flooding across the city, leaving many roads impassable.

As of midnight Tuesday, 559 inches of rain had fallen on Dubai in the past 24 hours, an average of 373 inches. This is the highest rainfall ever recorded in the city in a single day. The flooding has caused major disruptions to traffic and public transportation. Schools and businesses have been closed, and many residents have been stranded in their homes.

The rain is expected to continue for the next few days, and the authorities are urging residents to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel. The flooding has caused significant damage to infrastructure and property, and the full extent of the damage is still being assessed.
